A teenager has been remanded in custody accused of the murder of a teenager on his birthday.
The 16-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons charged with murdering Ryan Daly on Friday after being quizzed by police for several hours.
The 19-year-old died last Saturday - April 2 - morning following an incident at Philip Sydney Road on the Chafford Hundred estate the previous evening.
The sports fanatic from Moore Avenue, Grays, had been celebrating with friends at TGI Fridays and Old Orleans on the Lakeside complex before they took the shortcut home.
A post-mortem found he died as a result of serious facial and head injuries.
The 16-year-old from Barking was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear at Southend Youth Court on Wednesday at a brief Basildon Magistrates' Court hearing on Saturday.
